Summary

Manuscript ketubah with standard ketubah text in black ink in Aramaic and Hebrew in Sephardic semi-cursive script with floral decorations around the text. Decorative border in gouache with colorful floral and geometric patterns and verses from Scripture in block Hebrew print in the supporting columns: verse from Proverbs (18:22) enclosed in top border; abridged verse from Ruth (4:11) in right border; verse from Genesis (27:28) and abridged verse from Ruth (4:12) in left border. Wedding took place on 14 Nisan 5633 (11 April 1873), in Tiberias, Israel.

• The wedding took place on the Sixth day [Fri.] of the week, 14th of Nisan, 5633 [11 April 1873] in the city of Ṭeverya. The groom is Menaḥem ʻAṭyas ben ha-manoaḥ k. ha-r. Shaʼul ʻa. h. The bride is Miryam t.m. bat k. ha-r. Refaʼel Azʻari. Witnesses: ha-tsaʻir Yitsḥaḳ Avraham Baḳiria, S.ṭ. [?]; ha-tsaʻir Mosheh ha-Kohen S.ṭ.
