Summary

This is a letter written to David Berlin by Shimʻon ben Süsskind, writing in Leipzig (possibly coinciding with the Leipziger Messe); the purpose of the letter is to inquire after multiple attempts to contact "Naftali of Dessau" regarding a proposed match between their children; Shimʻon ben Süsskind's letters had gone unanswered, his attempts to contact him through Eliʻezer of Zabłudów (who was to travel through there) failed; Shimʻon ben Süsskind states that he was worried about the dowry he had sent to Naftali of Dessau through an additional messenger, and asks David Berlin to write another letter to Dessau as that may force Naftali to respond. Shimʻon ben Süsskind additionally beseeches Berlin about the cause of his friend, Natan-Noṭe ben David from Ożarów, whose wife and child were imprisoned (Natan-Noṭe's letter to Berlin survives as UPenn CAJS Rar Ms 559e).
