Summary

Illuminated missal written and decorated in Italy, probably between 1456 and 1482. 40 historiated initials mark feasts of Christmastide (f. 12v-20v), the Canon of the Mass (f. 130r), feasts of Eastertide and Corpus Christi (f. 134r-155r), selected feasts in the Sanctorale (f. 179r-223v), the Common of the Saints (f. 227r), the Mass for the Dead (f. 264r), and a second Mass for the Visitation (f. 269r). Chants are notated on four-line staves for Holy Week and the Canon of the Mass (intermittently, f. 77r-132v), with staves on some leaves lacking notation (f. 78r, 128v). Notarial records of Inquisition interrogations conducted in a Franciscan community, possibly in Verona, are bound into the volume, one leaf at the beginning and two leaves at the end. The first 13th-century leaf at the end of the volume has a title beginning Liber inquisitorum sacrorum and including the name of the notary (Daniele de Lazaro?) and the date 1282, tenth indiction.
