Summary

Manuscript employed as part of a broader ritual of personal and bodily protection of a devotee of the Hindu deity Gaṇeśa. The worshiper places mantras on his or her heart (hṛdaya) which creates a kind of symbolic, protective armor (kavaca) much like an amulet or talisman. Presented as a dialogue between the goddess Pārvatī (Gaurī) and the god Śiva (Śaṅkara).
