Summary
Plan drawn in black and brown ink of the campus of the University of Pennsylvania at the southwest corner of 4th and Arch Streets, including the streets; buildings labeled University and Charity School; houses labeled as occupied by Dr. Davidson (James Davidson, professor of Greek and Latin), Dr. Rogers (William Rogers, professor of oratory and English), and Dr. Ewing (John Ewing, provost); and adjacent properties labeled with the names of their owners, Jacob Downing and William Sansom. Many measurements are included for segments of boundaries or buildings. The map was made between the sale of property to Jacob Downing in 1796 and the move of the University and the death of John Ewing in 1802 (University Archives). Plan is mounted on a mesh backing.
