Summary

Large sheet recording debts (Dare) and credits (Havere) of Paolo Parenzi (written Paulo Parenzi in the manuscript) and Girolamo Parenzi, merchants from Lucca, Italy, operating in Amsterdam in the late 17th century. The entries run from February to September 1690. The people mentioned in the entries are associated with cities in Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. Debts are on the left half of the page and credits are on the right, each with three informal subcolumns for date, details, and amount. On the verso, after the account is settled so that the debts and credits are equal, is the inscription Amsterdam 1690, Vanderlaen E[....]. The name Vanderlaen also appears in the credit column on the recto. The text on the verso is upside down in relation to the text on the recto (sheet is flipped on the short side for continuous reading).
