Manuscript to be used in private or public performance of rites, recitations, and ceremonies, directed towards the liṅga (mark or sign), an emblem of the Hindu deity Śiva. Especially concerned with the precepts and rules surrounding the pārthiva or earthen liṅga renowned as the most auspicious. Text also contains a series of mantras dedicated to Śiva as well a mention of the importance of visiting pilgrimage sites. Text may be a collection of rules and regulations about liṅga worship from a number of different sources, especially the Liṅgapurāṇa, although printed editions of the text do not correlate with the manuscript. Skandapurāṇa and some unknown Tantric texts may also be a source for some passages.
