Praise of the Hindu deity Śiva through a set of more than a 100 names rather than the 1000 names suggested by the title (sahasranāma); employed in private and public forms of worship (pūjā), using mantras. Presented as a discussion between the deity Kṛṣṇa and the legendary figures Mārkaṇḍeya and Vyāsa. Taken from the Śaṅkarasaṃhitā in the last section (uttarakhaṇḍa) of the Padmapurāṇa.
