Summary

This manuscript is a partial copy of Stephen Langton's commentary on the Pentateuch, covering Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. It was copied in France, possibly Pontigny, circa 1220-1230. It is not a fine copy, written on parchment of varying size, many sheets with irregular edges and holes, with very limited use of red ink, mostly functional rather than decorative. Not only does the Protogothic script appear to be written by multiple hands, but a regular system of signatures for quires 2-8 is replaced by catchwords for quires 9-11 to finish out the commentary on Exodus, with signatures resuming (with errors of duplication and omission) for the commentary on Leviticus and Numbers in quires 12-26.
