Summary
This plain little manuscript contains a copy of the Roman playwright Terence's Comediae, although "Adelphoe" is imperfect and "Phormio" is missing entirely. The text is virtually unadorned, with simple colored initials the only decorative elements. Red ink rubrics distinguish the speakers in the texts, and running headings track the titles of the comedies. This manuscript was made in Italy in the late twelfth or early thirteenth century, but re-uses parchment from an earlier book; it is a palimpsest. The original text, in a gothic script with colored initials and chapter numbers, is visible throughout. It has not been identified.
Notes
