The prefatory material for the Gospel of Matthew is probably missing; the other Gospels have prefaces and synopses, but the first leaf of the Gospel text in each is missing and has been supplied later, perhaps in the fifteenth century. The lower margins have been cut from some leaves (fols. 60, 120, 143, 176, 182), in one case with loss of text (fol. 53). Cross-references between Gospels, contemporary with the text, are marked in the side margins. A capitulary listing the incipits for the Gospel readings throughout the year follows the Gospel of John (fols. 189v-197v) but only runs through the end of August.LatinBible, Gospelsformer ownerChartreuse de Rettel (Rettel, Moselle)former ownerMarston, Thomas E.1rEvangelium secundum Matheum51vArgumentum secundum Marcum52rBrevis secundum Marcum53vEvangelium secundum Marcum85vPrefatio secundum Lucam86vBrevis evangelii secundum Lucam88vPrologus Hieronimi Presbiteri89rEvangelium secundum Lucam145rPrologus secundum Iohannem145vBreviarius evangelii secundum Iohannem147rEvangelium secundum Iohannem188rPrologus evangeliorumNovum opus me facere cogis ex vetere [fol. 188r]... diligenter esse dispositione[m] querentibus n[on] tacere [fol. 189v]189vCapitulare evangeliorum de circulo anni
