About Temple University Libraries, Special Collections Research Center

The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) is the principal repository for and steward of the Libraries' rare books, manuscripts, archives and University records. The SCRC collects, preserves, and makes accessible primary resources and rare or unique materials, to stimulate, enrich, and support research, teaching, learning, and administration at Temple University. SCRC makes these resources available to a broad constituency as part of the University's engagement with the larger community of scholars and independent researchers.

Image standards and specifications

Images from the Temple Libraries, Special Collections Research Center were shot and processed by the Schoenberg Center for Electronic Text & Image. In general, The Schoenberg Center for Electronic Text & Image follows the NISO standards as articulated in A Framework for Building Good Digital Collections, 3rd Edition:

Imaging and processing equipment

Master images are captured at a resolution of at least 600 pixels per inch of the image subject. Once all of the images for a manuscript have been captured they are color-corrected, deskewed, and cropped.
