The text is 16 lines of Latin, written in a French Gothic script and dated 13 August 1478 (lines 12-13). The indulgence has a seal tag cut from its lower edge with traces of red wax and an 18th-century inscription in ink on the verso, "an absolution," with the year 1478 and perhaps an amount paid.
