The colophon suggests that the commentary of the hymn will help to clear away darkness with respect to the Vedas and is part of a standard signature ending to the R̥gvedabhāṣya (or R̥gvedabhāṣyabhūmikā) by the 14th-century author Sāyaṇa, the brother of the Mīmāmsā philosopher Mādhva, to whom the text is dedicated and alludes (though not in name). The root text (the hymn) is highlighted in red throughout the manuscript.
