This manuscript contains three sermons by Tennent. The first, on the subject of divine judgement, begins with reference to Isaiah 26:9. The second, on the duties of the afflicted, begins with reference to Lamentations 3:39-40. The third, on obedience and acceptance of divine correction, begins with reference to Zephaniah 3:2 and Jeremiah 7:28-29. From dates noted on the manuscript, it looks like Tennent wrote these sermons in 1746, then delivered one or more of them again in 1751, 1753, 1755, and 1757.
