Deposition of John Hill attesting to his status as a free Black man, with a supporting deposition by Benjamin Clark, another free Black man, dated 16 May 1797. Hilary Baker's signature as mayor appears below each, and both men signed the document with their marks. The name John Hill is written on the back (f. 2v) for filing purposes.
