Summary

Two treatises composed by Ambrosius Tantucco, finished during June and September of 1710, discussing the disputed questions of Thomas Aquinas, with reference to the philosophical roots of Christian religious tradition found in Aristotle and other Classical philosophers. Topics discussed include the predicaments or categories of being, the nature of God, moral philosophy, free will, truth and falsity, the nature of good and evil, and the virtues.

Unidentifiable coat-of-arms bearing an anchor in water and three 7-pointed stars, labeled "Disticon" with the motto "Spes est sic placuit Superio cognomine nobis quid tribues dic. spes credula verba nihil" (f. 3r); decorative border with two 8-pointed stars on title page (f. 4r); elaborate diagram entitled "Arbor sum plana quia vocor Porphyriana" illustrating the predicament of substance (f. 88r); decorative vignette on title page for index to work 1(f. 187v); decorative vignette bearing the words "Clementia regnans," "Non habet alba notas simul alba refulsit. Hor: lib: g.," and "Clemens xi" along with an 8-pointed star and illustration of three hills (f. 248v); inscription "Angelico doctori" inside decorative border in the shape of an inverted triangle (f. 250v); red speckled page edges.
