Summary
An account of the rivalry between John of Austria, illegitimate son of the deceased King of Spain, Philip the IV, and Juan Everardo Nithard, confessor and favorite of the king's widow, Queen Mariana of Austria, which ended in Juan Everardo Nithard's expulsion from Spain. Includes copies of communications of the Royal Council of Castile to the queen regarding the matter, as well as extensive correspondence between John of Austria, the queen, and other important officials, all dating from the years 1668-1669.
