Summary
Ledger of debtors and creditors and memoranda of Donato Arrigucci for the years 1521-1524. Often includes the nature of a given credit or debt and its amount, as well as listing the names of the individuals that hold the debt or credit. Among the names that appear there are Giovanbattista and Jacopo Giocondi; Bonifacio and Donato Forzi; and Giuliano and Francesco Ambrogi. The counterparts are usually members of the aristocratic Florentine families, but transactions with servants or employees of the Arrigucci family are not uncommon. Some transactions are settled in cash, others in kind (with animals, produce or textiles), regardless of whether the counterpart is a family member or an employee. Memoranda offer a more detailed description of single transactions, such as the events which led to a credit or a debt.
