Summary
Collection of culinary recipes, for meat (mutton chops, beef stew, potted beef, cutlets, lamb fricasee), fowl (pickled pigeon, chicken pie), seafood (pickled herring, oysters, smelts in jelly), breads (biscuits, wiggs), drinks (elder wine, gooseberry wine, mead, cowslip wine, shrub), condiments (ketchup, vinegar), and sweets (plum cakes, gingerbread), The recipes are numbered 1-73, with number 26 skipped and recipes 41-44 missing (on p. 25-26, a missing leaf). Three leaves cut out (after page 40) without affecting the numbering of recipes. Most leaves dampstained to varying degrees from the upper outer corner. A few recipes at the end of the volume (after p. 39) are attributed to individuals (Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Piggott, Mrs. Fuller).
