Author's manuscript of a romance, with many corrections. Leaves have been cut out at the end and the text breaks off mid-sentence. The spine title, La jeunesse infortunée, is part of the title on the title page (p. i) that has been crossed out.

Contemporary (18th-century) calf over five bands; gilt spine with title label JEUNESSE INFORTUN; marbled endpapers.

Layout

Written in 20-21 long lines; the quires were folded vertically into four equal columns and on each page the lines begin at the fold between the first and second column and end at the right edge of the page; octavo format.

Script

Written in cursive script.
