Summary

Manuscript volume with a collection of veterinary remedies for horses starting from one end (p. 1-74) and a copy of John Theobald's Every man his own physician starting from the other end (p. 75-134, starting from the end). Several of the horse remedies are copied from The gentleman farrier's repository of elegant and approved remedies for the diseases of horses by John Bartlet, printed repeatedly in the second half of the 18th century. Other unidentified attributions include Mr. Wm. Taplin, Barneys, London Dispensatory, Dr. Wilson, The gentleman's jockey, George King, J. Turner, Rackham, and Newmarket Jack. A table of contents for the first thirty pages precedes them (p. ii). Starting from the end of the volume are six pages of remedies for cows, followed by a table of contents and one more remedy (p. 142-135). The rest of this half of the volume is the copy of Every man his own physician, another work, on home medicine, that was printed repeatedly in the second half of the 18th century.
