Summary

Collection of recipes for remedies, including powders, balms, pomades, syrups, and unguents, for curing wounds and ailments such as fevers, bladder stones, plague, heart palpitations, colic, rheumatism, and skin and eye conditions. The collection also includes esoteric entries such as powder of sympathy (supposedly a means of healing wounds at a distance, p. 1) and aids for longevity (p. 253, 289). Some of the recipes are followed by sections for "vertus et usage" and observations, but these often contain little information. A table of contents is at the end of the volume (p. 443-452). Attributions include M. de Caponai/Caponay (p. 1, 4, 107, 141, 145), M. de Grimaldi/Grimaldy (p. 9, 111), Madame la Marquise de Sailly (p. 67), Chevalier Talbot (p. 207), Capitaine Bastien (p. 213), Madame de Richelieu (p. 257), "Duguey horloger" (p. 266), and Madame de Beaulieu (p. 303).
