Summary

Unpublished 18th-century French novel of the adventures of Auguste and Faufette on four imaginary islands after a shipwreck, modeled on Gulliver's Travels. Numerous edits have been made in the text. An inscription on a front flyleaf in the first volume reads, "Le Guliver fracais [sic] par J. August Torrilhon" (t. 1 p. iv).

Contemporary (18th-century) leather; simple gilt tooling and gilt spines with volume numbers; gilt spine title Voy[ages] d'Augus[te] et Faufett[e] (volume 4); marbled endpapers (volume 2).

Written in cursive script.

• Probably handled by Librairie A. Cisneros (Bordeaux), late 19th or early 20th century (smudged oval ink stamp on front cover and offset of torn-out ink stamp on p. iv of volume 1; oval ink stamp covered with leather on front cover of volume 4).
