A copy in two volumes, in good condition, of Ibn ʻAbd al-Barr's compilation of companions of the Prophet Muḥammad.

Binding

Both volumes bound in the same way. Red leather over pasteboard with flap (Type II) with a large, blind stamped central mandorla and a blind tooled frame with knotwork pattern. Flap has coordinating frame and stamp. Doublure of covers and flap is plain, laid paper cut in a scalloped shape along one edge. Blue and white endbands. Title written on the bottom edge of each volume.

Layout

25 long lines; frame-ruled.

Decoration

Rubrications in red and brown (the brown may once have been red). The first opening of volume 2 has double border rules in red and a red and black medallion in the margin; the heading is also set off by red rules (f. 1v-2r).

Script

Written in maghribi in dark brown ink; pointed, unvocalized.
