- Author from the research of André Robinet (Oeuvres complètes de Malebranche, t. 17 (1960) pt. 1, p. 450-54, and t. 20 (1967) p. 321-26). The attribution to Malebranche, which appeared on the edition published in 1769, is considered apocryphal. Robinet also discusses attributions to the Comte de Boulainvilliers, P.V. Faydit and Pierre Varignon.
