Summary
One third of a tripartite Indenture recording an agreement among William Harvey, Thomas Harvey, and Lancelot Browne at the time of the marriage of William Harvey (Thomas's son) and Elizabeth Browne (Lancelot's daughter), dated 24 November 1604. William Harvey, newly admitted to the Royal College of Physicians, and Lancelot Browne, also a member of the Royal College of Physicians and physician to Elizabeth and James I, are each described as "doctor of Physick." Thomas Harvey grants the manor of Boxtall Lane (written Boxstale Lane in the indenture text and Bocstale Lane on the verso), in the county of Kent, for Elizabeth's dowry. William Harvey and Lancelot Browne's signatures are on the fold at the bottom of the document, through which their wax seals are attached. The seal below Lancelot Browne's signature has minor damage on one edge. The signatures of witnesses Henry Goddard (signed Goddarde), John Butcher (signed Bucher), and Aquilla Palliner (?) are on the verso. Written in 60 lines of secretary script with a large first initial in decorative penwork and a few phrases of the text written in larger Gothic script, ruled in hard point with pricking visible at the left edge, indented top and right edges.
