Summary

Manuscript used for contemplation and study and is part of Bhāravi's poem Kirātārjunīya, a development and reinterpretation of a Hindu mythic story from the Mahābhārata about an encounter between the god Śiva and the epic hero Arjuna in which Śiva appears as a wild mountain man (Kirāta). Manuscript contains second chapter (sarga) from the larger work of eighteen chapters, with the commentary by Mallinātha running parallel above and below the root text. Manuscript ends with a pattern of line designs interspersed with Hindu mantras dedicated to various deities including the goddess Jagadaṃba, a regional deity from Andhra Pradesh.
