In SanskritSummary
Text is a description of the observance and rites (vrata) dedicated to the Hindu goddess Gaurī (a form of Pārvatī, the wife of Śiva), sitting on top of a white elephant (hasta or gaja). Rites are performed when the sun enters into the constellation of Hasta (identified partly with the constellation Corvus). Presented as a conversation between the deity Kṛṣṇa and the legendary figure Kunti.
