Summary

Two different texts of praise and ritual to be used in public or private meditation, prayer, or practice. The first part of manuscript (f. 1r-4v) is a version of the Vṛṇdāvanamāhātmya, praising the mythological forest called Vṛṇdā where the Hindu deity Kṛṣṇa along with his consort, the goddess Radhā are thought to dwell; here the forest is depicted in the form of a maṇḍala or mystic diagram and expounds on worship (through offerings and mantras) of various deities presiding there, especially forms of the deity Viṣṇu (of whom Kṛṣṇa is one) and on the various benefits for doing so (such as the removal of sin and disease). Presented as a discussion between the deity Śiva and the goddess Pārvatī. The second part of the manuscript is a praise of the month of Vaiśākha (April-May) as the best among the best of the months and is considered a favorite of the deity Viṣṇu. Contains descriptions of the various rites and rituals (such as bathing) that a devotee should perform during the month and the benefits that are received for doing so (such as attaining one's goals and receiving the benefits associated with pilgrimage). Poleman mistakenly indicates 20 folios, ignoring the first part of the manuscript.
