Manuscript is used primarily for private recitation and ritual directed towards the Hindu deity Rāma well known for his exploits in the epic the Rāmāyaṇa. Reciting the text is meant to produce a protective barrier over the devotee that will protect him or her from harm, thus functioning as a kind of prayer amulet or talisman.

- Mistakes blacked out; some corrections and additions in margins.
- Written on blue, European stock of paper with the watermark name of "Millington" a possible reference to the company C. Millington & Son known to distribute paper in South Asia; there is also a partial date of -862 (equals 1862) on one of the folios.
