Summary

Two nearly complete leaves from a copy of Gregory IX's Decretals. The text includes 4.1.15-4.1.27, 5.1.20-5.1.24, concerning the canon law on betrothal and matrimony; on accusations, investigations, and denunciations. Written in double columns with marginal commentary, gothic script, ruled lightly with plummet. Red or blue initials with contrasting penwork, red paragraph marks, marginal staining and trimming from use in a binding. From an extremely early manuscript of Gregory IX's Decretals which was completed in 1234; Gregory was Pope from 1227 to 1241.
