Summary

The Sppech and Carriage of Stephen Colledge at Oxford, Before the Castle, on Wednesday August 31, 1681. Taken exactly from his own Mouth at the Place of Execution. London: Printed for Thomas Basset at the George in Fleet-street, and John Fish near the Golden Tun in the Strand. 1681. Colledge (aka College), known to his contemporaries as "The Protestant Joiner," was a poet and political activist as well as following the trade of a carpenter (or joiner). He was responsible for some of the panelling, still in place today, in the hall of the Worshipful Company of Stationers. He was tried for treason on largely trumped up evidence and hanged.
