Summary

Composite manuscript containing 4 works copied by different scribes on inheritance law, logic and mathematics. The first two works, which make up the bulk of the codex, are by al-Rasmūkī. The second is a commentary on a poem by Ibrāhīm ibn Abī al-Qāsim al-Simlālī (died 1520) for which al-Rasmūkī had written a continuation; the commentary is on both parts of the poem.

• Dimensions of original manuscript: 215 x 145 (165 x 110) mm bound to 212 x 160 mm.

Binding

Bound in red leather over pasteboard with flap (Type II); blind-stamped frame and fore-edge decoration of vines and flowers; the central portion of each cover and flap has been covered in cream paper with a blue paper underlay, the cream layer was then cut away so that a equal armed cross in blue is visible; only one arm of the cross appears on the flap. The front cover retains the impression of stamped central mandorla that has been covered over.

Written in 26-29 long lines with poetry in two columns; marginalia.

Decoration

Rubrications in red, numerous small tables in red and brown.

Script

Written in maghribī in brown ink; pointed, partially vocalized.
