Business letter describing land ceded by Tapotamon to Diogenes.

Notes

Papyrus is torn along the bottom (approximately 7 cm across) with a tear also on the right hand side at lines 10-13 (3 vertical cm) and smaller tears in the middle of the papyrus lines 17-19, but the text is complete. It appears to have been folded vertically, down the middle. Top and left margins fully intact; right and bottom margins partially intact.
Text mentions the village of Korobis.

Text is on one side only, 20 lines written with the fibers.

Two hands, with the body perhaps written by a clerk followed by an endorsement by Heraclas, one of the senders. The first 13 lines plus brief sign-off in hand 1 (unless the brief line starts the next section) and 6 lines in hand 2.

Provenance

Excavated by Grenfell and Hunt (1896-7) on behalf of the Egyptian Exploration Fund, and donated to the University Museum in return for its support (1901, Dr. Parrish Collection).
