Summary
This manuscript is a Gallican psalter made in Flanders circa 1470, probably for an English patron, based on the English saints in the calendar (Saint Cedd (October 26), Saint Cuthbert (March 20), and Saint Dunstan (May 19)) and the litany (Saint Swithun). The psalms are decorated with seven large illuminations by a follower of the Masters of the Golden Fleece and the canticles are decorated with twelve small miniatures by the Master of Edward IV. At the end of the volume, two leaves from two other, smaller manuscripts are tipped in. One leaf, containing the end of Psalm 10 and the beginning of Psalm 11, is from a manuscript from the first quarter of the fourteenth century (before fol. 165); the other, from a fifteenth-century Dutch book of hours, has text from the Office of the Dead, Use of Utrecht (after fol. 165).
