• The Resurrected Christ appearing to the Virgin Mary
   
• The subject of this miniature in which Christ appears to his mother after his Resurrection is not from Scripture. Rather, late medieval devotional authors invented the episode so that Christ's first appearance would be to his mother, the Virgin Mary, rather than to Mary Magdalene, an episode recorded in the Gospel of John.
