Notes
- Initial A with St. Peter consecrating St. Hermagoras
- This initial probably begins the first response of the first nocturn of Matins for the feast of St. Hermagoras (July 12), 'Accipe baculum pontificatus ...' (Accept this pontifical staff). St. Hermagoras was the first bishop and patron of Aquileia in Italy. According to his legend, he was consecrated at Rome by St. Peter. Latin inscriptions above the figure's heads identify them as St. Ermargora and St. Petrus.
