• Initial B with the Trinity
   
• This initial begins the Introit for Trinity Sunday, 'Bededicta sit sancta trinitas...' (Blessed be the Holy Trinity). This image of the Trinity, in which God the Father presents his Son crucified under the wings of the dove of the Holy Spirit, is also known as the Mercy-Seat Trinity. It emphasizes in sentimental terms the paternal nature of God and the human suffering of the Son, following certain tendencies in late medieval devotion to focus on the human nature of Christ.
   
• This image shows the reverse of a leaf with an historiated initial from a gradual. This side of the leaf, the true recto, contains the Communion for Pentecost Sunday.
   
• Initial I with St. Anne teaching the Virgin Mary to read
   
• This initial begins the Magnificat antiphon of first Vespers for the feast of St. Anne (July 26), 'Inclita stirps Iesse virgam produxit ...' (The glorious root of Jesse brought forth a delightful stem).
   
• This image shows the reverse of a leaf with an historiated initial from an antiphonary. This side of the leaf, the true recto, contains part of the liturgy for the feast of St. James the Apostle (July 25).
