This manuscript was written in the late sixteenth century and contains eight separate texts, including several by Bottoni and several by Mercuriale.

Watermark
At least three different watermarks; all difficult to identify: six-pointed star attached to circle with smaller circle within, resembles Briquet, Filigranes, no. 3120 but with smaller circle inside larger; three-armed cross with small circles on ends of arms, long straight line on bottom as forth arm, resembles Briquet no. 5463 but without robust forth arm; and simple crown[?] inside circle, slightly resembles Briquet no. 4630 but with more rounded prongs and shorter outside prongs; all Briquet numbers similar to these watermarks are dated too early (fifteenth century) for this manuscript, which can't be earlier than 1581Extent

- Dr. John Stockton Hough, a nineteenth-century medical bibliophile: Hough received his M.D. from the Medical College of the University of Pennsylvania in 1868, but seems to have stopped practicing medicine by the 1870s, and subsequently spent several years living and travelling around Europe, beginning in 1874; became a "gentleman farmer" in Ewing Township, West Trenton, NJ, in 1887; died on 6 May 1900, his large collection of books was purchased by the College in 1901 through numerous funds; College of Physicians: with the College bookplate (upper pastedown) depicting a lamp on a pedestal above "Non sibi sed toti", enclosed within a belt bearing the legend "Ex libris Coll. Med. Philad. Instit. A.D. MCCLXXXVII", below which is printed "Class [space] No. [space] / Presented by [space]", the spaces filled-in by hand with "10a", "154" and a typed, pasted scrap denoting "Library General Account", respectively; top left corner inscribed with the accession number "63738", corresponding to the accession register for December 17, 1903
