Summary

The practice of renting pews was common in 18th and 19th century churches; members paid a fee for the right to occupy a particular pew every week. This bound manuscript is a record of pew rents due to Christ Church in September 1815 and March 1816. Entries are listed by pew number, with occupants' names, number of seats, amount of rent, total due and amount paid. Rents from September 1815 are listed from the front of the book, and rents from March 1816 start on page 33.
