• Mordekhai Ottolenghi and Rafa᾿el Ḥayim Ottolenghi: inscribed with their names (folio 151v).
   
• Shalom Latif of Jerusalem sold the manuscript to R. Mosheh ben Avraham for 50 gold ducats at Bologna in 5219 (1459): inscribed sale entry in Hebrew: folio 161v.
   
• Luigi da Bologna, a converted Jew working for the Inquisition as censor (active 1590-1610): inscribed with his name as censor: 'Visto per mi Fra Luigi del ordine di San Domenico del 1599' (folio 160r), see 104.
   
• Yeḥi᾿el Naḥman Fo᾿ah, 17th-century collector of Hebrew manuscripts and early printed books: inscribed with his name (folios 1r, 2r).
   
• Illegible Hebrew inscriptions (top of folio 1r, 161v).

Layout

Columns: 1; ruled lines: 5 30; written lines: 5 30; Ruling with hard-point and pricking is visible. Hair-side and flesh-side of the folios are distinguishable. Many illustrations, which consist mainly of gold and coloured letters of first and striking words, placed within coloured designs. Number of written lines varies.

Script

Sefardic square and semi-cursive script, punctuated, of the 14th century.

Provenance

• Acquisition: Purchased by the British Museum from Payne and Foss in 1844 for 10 shillings; no. 123 (9005) in their catalogue ([162v]).
