Post-1600. Red morocco leather, gold tooled. Boxed. Spine: 'J.K. תפילה. Mus. Brit. Jure Emptionis. 17,867.'

Layout

Columns: 1 ; ruled lines: 25 35; written lines: 25 35; Uniform layout. Visible vertical hard-point ruling. Initial words written in larger characters. Hair side and flesh side indistinguishable. Running titles decorated with a simple design in black and golden ink. The text on each page is enclosed in a frame, in golden ink. Gilt edges.

Script

Amsterdam square font, punctuated, of the 18th century.

• Acquisition: Adolphus Asher (b. 1800, d. 1853), Berlin bookseller and dealer to the British Museum (see 131-153): purchased from him on 18 August 1849: inscribed, folio [199v].
