Pre-1600. Brown leather, gold tooled, with remains of clasps. Spine: 'Machazor. Ritus Italici. Hebraice. Mus. Brit. Jure Emptionis 19,064.'

Layout

Columns: 1; ruled lines: 38; written lines: 38; Uniform layout. Visible hard-point ruling. Initial words written in larger characters. Hair side and flesh side are indistinguishable. Erasures presumably by the censor (e. g. folios 15r, 116v, 224v, 227r). Unfoliated blank leaf after folios 105, 208.

Script

Italian square script of the 15th century, punctuated. Micha᾿el (?): the name Michael is decorated (folio 168r).

Provenance

• Acquisition: Adolphus Asher (b. 1800, d. 1853), Berlin bookseller and dealer to the British Museum (see 131-153: inscribed, [232v].
