Layout

Columns: 3; ruled lines: 31; written lines: 30; Uniform layout. The manuscript is defective at the beginning and at the end, with leaves missing after folio 273, 300 and 321. The beginning of each book is distinguished by the opening word or words being written in large characters. Masorah magna often written in the form of figures, animals and patterns; otherwise it occupies three lines in the upper margin and four in the lower margin.

Decoration

1 inhabited initial word in ink. Numerous micrographical illustrations.

Script

Ashkenazi square script of 13th century; punctuation provided by a different hand. Baruch ; the word ברוך is marked on folio 1r.

• Acquisition: M. Edwin Tross of Paris: purchased by the British Museum from him on 13 October 1855, inscribed (([331v])).
