Pentateuch with Rashi's commentary and Targum Onḳelos; the Five Scrolls; the Hafṭarot with Rashi's commentary.

Notes

• The codex is imperfect at the beginning and at the end.
   
• There are two lacunae after folios 146, 378 and the outer bifolio is missing from quire xxiii.
   
• Ḥayim: the word is decorated or marked as an acrostic (folios 50v, 334r, 348r).
   
• Yosef: the name is marked with a small human head attached to it (folios 270r, 320v).
   
• Remains of a contract, mostly illegible (folio 272v).
   
• Hebrew inscription: letters of the Hebrew alphabet in order and in counter order a blessing; its last part had been crossed out ([384r]).

Layout

Columns: 1 3; ruled lines: 24 29; written lines: 23 28; Uniform layout. Folio comes from a much smaller codex with a fragment of Psalm 119 (119:48-65) written in Sephardic square script. On the same folio, there is a partially erased Hebrew inscription in the upper margin. Sometimes threefold catchwords for main text, Targum and commentary (e.g. ). Watermark, , of a circle with the letters 'BG' and a cross on top, similar to 3046-3047 (dated 1569-71, Reggio Emilia). The end of a weekly section in the Pentateuch is marked by three letters pe; the beginning is distiguished by the large ornamental characters of the first word, together with a pen and ink design, usually of a dragon (similar larger design at the beginning of the book). The commentary is often arranged in ornamental designs of different kinds. Several additional or alternative Hafṭarot given in the margins.

Script

Ashkenazi square and semi-cursive script, partially punctuated, of the 14th century. Shemuʾel ben he-ḥaver rabi Ḥayim: inscribed with his name in a colophon, in Lunel? (folios 272r, 311v); the name Shemuʾel is marked (folio 209r).
