Layout

Columns: 1; ruled lines: 22; written lines: 21; Uniform layout. Visible pricking and plummet ruling. Initial words written in larger characters. Hair side and flesh side are indistinguishable. Censor's erasures: folios 40r, 85v, 86r.

Script

Ashkenazi square, punctuated, of 14th century.

Provenance

• Acquisition: Giuseppe Almanzi (b. 1801, d. 1860), bibliophile; his manuscript no. 98: his library including 322 medieval Hebrew manuscripts were purchased en bloc by the British Museum in October 1865 for £1,000 through Asher & Co., Berlin dealer to the British Museum (see 131-153): inscribed, folio [224v] .
