Layout

Columns: 1; ruled lines: 15; written lines: 15; Uniform layout. The catchwords from page to page are written in the middle of the lower margin. The Psalms are numbered and divided into groups, separated with blank spaces from 1 to 8 lines. Vertical ruling with pen, horizontal ruling with a sharp object.

Script

Italian square script, punctuated, of the 15th century. Natan Casallo, inscribed with his name in the colophon, folio 136v.

Provenance

• Acquisition: Giuseppe Almanzi (b. 1801, d. 1860); his library including 322 medieval Hebrew manuscripts were purchased en bloc by the British Museum in October 1865 for £1,000 through Asher & Co., Berlin bookseller and dealer to the British Museum (131-153: inscribed (folio [249v]).
