Columns: 3; ruled lines: 29; written lines: 28; Folios 2-5 and 274 added in the 18th century. Numbers, Song of Songs and Ecclesisates commence a new leaf. Initial words of Genesis, Song of Songs and Haftarot written in larger letters. Beginnings of pericopes in the Pentateuch marked in the margin by ornamented פ or פר.

Script

Ashkenazi square script, provided with vowel-points and accents, of the 13th century.

• Acquisition: Adam Clarke (b. 1762, d. 1832), Wesleyan Methodist minister and scholar. His bookplate with Greek inscription: ho theos agape estin (inner lower cover) and his short description of the manuscript in English on folio [ii verso]. This codex, together with nine other manuscripts (Add MS 9398-9407), was acquired by the British Museum in 1834, once the property of the Hagen family and then of Adam Clarke.
