Summary

Festival prayer book (maḥzor) for Rosh ha-Shanah and Yom Kipur, and beginning of Sukot, Ashkenazi rite (aka 'Dragon's Head Maḥzor').

Notes

• First few leaves damaged.
   
• Defective at the beginning and at the end.
   
• Lower margin has been cut off numerous times (folios 56, 57, 84, 86, 87, 105, 119, 125, 126, 127, 131, 149, 152).
   
• The word 'Moie' is written in Latin characters in the upper margin of folio 68v, and 'Mojs' in the upper margin of folio 107v.

Layout

Columns: 1; ruled lines: 27; written lines: 26; Uniform layout. Visible pricking and hard-point ruling. Initial words written in larger characters. Hair side and flesh side are distinguishable. Several marginal notes in a semi-cursive script. Erasures (e.g., folios 81v, 85r) or passages drawn across (e.g., folios 18r, 24v, 25r, 35v, 87v, 102r, 108v, 109v, 121r, 121v, 128v, 158r), entire poem drawn across (folios 96v-97r, 98r-99r, 99r-99v, 153v).

Script

Ashkenazi square script, partially punctuated. Avraham?: the name Avraham is marked on folio 110r.
